Ok I have a 02 dodge durango. 4.7 auto 4x4. You can rev the motor no problem in park/neutral but put it in gear and it try's to stall or hardly trys to do anything. No revs or anything which rules out a trans problem to me. I've been trying to google search and I'm getting crank position sensor(replaced), IACV, or TPS, last two haven't tried yet just wanted some input before I spend any more money. When in drive it will have power all the sudden then stall as soon as you brake. Any helpful info or incite would be greatly appreciated. This is the first dodge I've owned. It has a check engine light but don't want to risk trying to drive it to the local parts store to have it ran.

Probably the pick uo in the distributor. Go out all the time in dodges.

Rent an OBD2 scanner and bring it home with you. You don't have to take the vehicle to the parts store.

Dough: it has coil packs.

Fabrik: I replaced the IACV the old one had alot of build up and was very stiff and reset computer so right now no check engine light. But seems to run a lot better, still didn't fix the stumble when you put it in gear.

But I noticed a rattle in the exhaust like something might be hung up so I'm going to drop the muffler tomorrow to see if the catalytic converter broke up or if I can see something hung up.

Turn the key on and off 3 or 5 times (can't remember which) without starting it and ending in the "on" position. It will display the code on the digital odometer.

This. I believe it's 4 times on the Durango. My Jeep is 3 times.

Richmond: it drives just stalls at stops or doesn't go until something clicks in it and it gets power.

Jb and JDM: thanks for info just right now there is no check engine light so there is no codes to pull up.

I found out that its a common problem with the PCM having a loose or broken connection in these so I'm going to pick and pull to grab one and test it if so I'll have it reprogrammed for my truck and call it a day.
