Local S2000/Ferrari F40 owners dicsussion thread
Hey guys, anyone know a decent place to pick up an AP2 OEM lip. Would prefer an actual OEM lip, but I know the prices are all crazy since they come painted. Would it be worth it to just get a decent replica and paint that, to save a decent amount of money? If so does anyone have any experience with replica lips that turned out decently?
Looking to buy my wife a white s2000, whats up with all the local s2000 cars being 11k and rebuilt or salv titles. And I now see why I cant find a white one, they're all silver!!

The ap1 had a rear bais spring rate to promote oversteer. In it's early years the S2000 was meant to be pure competition in the sports car scene. However only old people could afford them, so enough old people complained about how hard it was to control the car and thus the Ap2 was born. With a front bais suspension setup and a few other suspension geometry points changed around to make the car easier to control.

This whole tuner mentality that thinks stiffer suspension always = better handling is wrong. There's a balance to be had, and it's not easy to get right.
I know people hate hearing this, but Honda set-up the suspension on AP2s better than AP1s. AP2s are more comfortable, smoother riding, more forgiving, more predictable, and just as fast. My ideal S2000 would be the original motor in the AP2 chassis.
KW's would have to be lubed too, the cause is dirt and junk getting in the threads, not the material or precision of the threads themselves.
Stiffer springs just put the tire into the ground with more force. The reason they reduce grip on some cars is they put more force than the tires can handle. Suspension theory is really complex as shit.

Certainly spring rates are a factor for the AP1's tendency to oversteer, but doesn't the different rear suspension geometry play a bigger role? The control arm mounting point and rear knuckles changed...under hard cornering, sudden-throttle lift, or hitting a bump the AP1's rear toe changes rapidly...I would think that would play a greater role in it's tendency to "snap" oversteer.
