If they were worried about him getting home safely, they wouldn't allow something so stupid.

tbh, I'm a little surprised we don't have a bike only lane on interstates/highways.

 

Stupid? Depends on the location and speed. I've done it many times, and safely. It's only dangerous if you are going too fast to react. Keep it under 10-20mph and it's fine.

 

It's stupid. The lane dividers aren't meant for travel, there's no reason outside of imminent danger to do that. Not to mention it's illegal everywhere around here.

 

There was a study, I believe it was Norway, that once they started allowing bikes to filter, ~20% of the car traffic switched to bikes and traffic congestion decreased by ~40%

Also, when CA passed their law, motorcycle fatalities went down, not up.
