Ford PATS Key Programming Service/Locksmith Recommendation
Like the title says, I bought a 2007 Ford Mustang with just a single key. I had a spare made (non-RFID) in case I needed to unlock the doors but I can't use it to run the car, but the blade could be copied.
I read this: , which suggests that I need to have the PCM reprogrammed if I don't have a working key, but I really do not want to tow the car to the dealer.
Does anyone know of a local (NOVA/MD/DC) locksmith who would have access to this computer, and ideally could bring it to the car? Or what the actual tool is called so I can ask the locksmith before they come to the car?
Any advice or help is welcome.

So does the car not run now because of the key?
If so, there are few locksmiths who ahve that access.. and it is expensive. I would call the ford dealer and ask them how much it would cost to program the key if you towed the car to them. Then I would ask them what locksmith they use for situations like this.
Honestly though, any hole in the wall dealership has a good locksmith on call usually.

Yeah car won't even turnover. You think the best bet is to tow it to the dealer? I hate to get involved with the dealership AND have to pay to tow it.
From what I understand the dealer has to program the car with some special computer, I don't know that they would call a locksmith. I'd imagine that's something that can be done in-house.

Yep, get AAA membership, 4 free tows a year, and membership cost could be cheaper than 1 tow.
