Default Nopi

Well first it was HOT there. I did not really show any I just went strait to the pits and walked around. Both the GM and Mopar guys were they’re racing which was nice. I was not meant to run though. If I could have gotten the shifting worked out I would have been in the mid 13’s. My first run I went up to the line and rolled out as did the guy I was racing. So I set the lights again and rolled out again so on the third try I put the emergency brake on as the tree started to fall I dropped the brake but only half way… At the top of first gear I managed to get the brake off and proceeded to have a hard time getting into 2nd. All that and I still ran a 14.1 After that every run I had a hard time getting into one gear or another. So I decided to let it cool down and go back during the next open session.

On the 2nd session I made my first run 2nd gear would not go in at first then I went to shift into 4th and miss shifted into 2nd. I pegged the tack and hit 8000 rpms. I took it out of gear and left of the gas fast and coasted across the line and still managed a 14.8. In a fit of rage I did not stop at the pits just kept going back around to the staging lanes. Got up to the line and the line guy told me to back off the line and go back to pits because I was leaking fluid. I went back to the pits and my radiator cap had partially popped off so I was done for the day. I figured I had bent a valve, had valve float or a head gasket, but I filled it up with fluid and it ran fine, idled fine and there is no oil in the coolant.

I had heard complaints from others that the Amsoil ATF was to slippery and caused missed shifts but I figured it was a driver problems not the fluid but I have never missed shifts before the fluid so it has to be that.

I am very impressed with this engine. To take the beating I put on it and still be in fine shape is amazing to me. I am going to have Joey run a compression check on it to make sure that every thing is fine but from what I can tell it’s still running like a champ.

matt I told you amsoil tranny fluid messes up things! it messed up my reverse! (joke)..

Weird that it did that? since amsoil doesnt make "MTF", and they recommend to use motor oil in my transmission, which isnt the best b/c of incorrect additives etc, I tried out GM/Penzoil Synchromesh that everyone is raving about.. Alot of the DSM guys use this, and the Prelude world is catching on as well.. not sure if it has caught on for srt4 people yet, or if you guys have as good of success, but give it a try..

the penzoil stuff is the same, you can get it at autozone..

I didnt really notice much of a difference in shifting when compared to some amsoil i had in at first, but they both felt WORLDS better than the stock crap that was in my car.. havent grinded since.. elementalwindx(greg) on here also seems to have good success with it

Well my thoughts were that amsoil is the best stuff around for motor oil so they would probably be good for the ATF and it's compatible with the mopar atf+4 that I'm supposed to use. It looks like every one in the SRT world has the same prob with it though it shifts find at cruise but the second you go hardcore on it it gives up. I guess it's to thin and slippery for the sincros to grab or something...

as for syncromesh it seems to work all right for some srt's but not so great for others. It to seems to brake down when it gets real hot.

There is a guy that has been trying every thing out there and so fare he is the happiest with redline MTF so I may try that, but for now I'm going to just go back to mopar atf+4

Hmm, i think the synchromesh is part synthetic part dino so i guess it might break down after some really hard driving after a while,

I used to run redline, but i heard straight from a redline rep not to use their newest MTF for the street because of additives in it that destroy the copper synchros in many of todays transmissions...

I will have to give my synchromesh a beating and see how it holds up hehe

Two different transmission setups I guess. Ours is a heavy duty transmission used in high out put diesels down in Mexico. Most people on our forum simple fill that it's to slippery but who knows. Day to day driving feels great it's only at WOT that it won't shift...

I do like the motor oil a lot though.

I’m not worried about it. It’s just trial and error all cars even of the same model are different.
