Default 16g install on 1g dsm! HELP

I pulled the turbo off a tsi talon and found it was only using oil to cool it. the inlet and outlet of the turbo weren't even blocked. have anyone ever heard of anyone doing this? will it hurt anything? i know most bigger turbo's our only oil cooled but even in the case, the oil coolers on my dsm's are different!!!!let me know any info of anything!

A friend of mine in alaska is running a big 16g in alaska.He was only using oil to cool it,But his car would always overheat....I don't think the problem was caused by the turbo though..I think he just did shady maintence.The best thing I can think of is just try it...If it works then great if not then you know what doesnt work.

it wont hurt anything to leave them open. just make sure the water pipe line is blocked off properly or it will leak coolant and the car will overheat + blow headgasket.

thanx guys. just if i can get the alan bolt off the oil cooler now!!!!!!!!! ECLIPZ, what do you have done to you car?

damn, thats alot of good stuff. my list is simple

intake
exhaust
16g ported turbo
boost controller
alcohol injection ( not sure if i'll use or sell)
turbo timer

i don't plan on having anymore. I will enjoy having ice cold ac and an automatic trannyl. the turbo install will be done tomorrow. I'll post my results tomorrow.

The mitsu bearings aren't designed to be cooled by oil. You might not run into short term problems but I'm sure long term wear will occur.

Just a thought.

I definitely agree, you better hook up the water lines to the turbo. You will probably cook the bearings over time. A local shop that "specializes" in dsms didnt hook up the water lines on my friends turbo and it didnt last very long. I didnt realize it until I was installing his new one.

yea, the car i pulled the 16g off of didn't haven't the water lines on it so i'm gonna have to buy them. no big deal. thanx for the help guys.
