Every car that comes out of every factory is just a big compromise. Compromises to the suspension, power level, exhaust note, asthetics, interior quality, etc.... I'll use myself as an example. For what I have into my car right now, I could easily be turboed and putting out ~500 rwhp. Why didn't I do that? Because the car would be completely out of balance. I need to address the compromises first. The car would have too much motor, not enough brakes, not enough suspension and not enough chassis reinforcement. Sure, it'd be cool to be able to make your and your passangers have a little bit of pee come out whenever you top out 4th gear, but truthfully how often are you gonna do that? Maybe once a month. And since I don't daily drive mine, perhaps even less than that. While the tires, wheels, suspension, brakes and asthetics pieces I have on my car right now, I use every time I take it out. Last weekend I got a ride in a 370rwhp M Coupe which was fast as hell but he had stock brakes and suspension. I don't know if you have ever tried to hit the brakes at 110 and then relize that you aren't slowing down much at all and the beige Camary is coming closer and closer to you, but it's a pretty scarey situation. That ride reaffirmed the decision I made to make my car whole before I go for retarded power. And I just shake my head when I see all of the turboed civics rolling around here with stock brakes that were designed to stop at 115 hp car from 75 mph at most.
But what I was orginally trying to get at was that every person has their different priorities out of their car. Yours may be speed and others may be looks. It's all still the car hobby though; and as long as it has quality work done to it, I'll give it the respect it deserves.
