There are at least 6 350-450 rwhp MR2s here in the area that I have tuned or know of. There are about that many under construction as well. I don't know of many that will play on the street though. Most of us MR2 owners are hitting up Summit Point and VIR, with the occasional trip to MIR or VMP to get our adrenaline fixes.
There's a beautiful black '05 STI on the peninsula that I tuned last month that put down 380awhp.
There are more and more ~400whp LS1 powered RX7s and Miatas popping up every year, and now that people are becoming better at programming hondata, chrome, and AEM, turbo Hondas are putting out crazy numbers left and right.
The LS powered GM enthusiasts in the area have built some very respectable setups, and the newer blown Fords in the Cobras and GT500s are just silly!
I completely agree that 600whp is the new 400whp. There are some really disgustingly fast cars out there in Hampton Roads these days. I feel, however, you're more likely to end up in a race with some idiot that not only has a slow obnoxiously loud car, but is a danger to not only you (and your license.....564 bust anyone?), but to the unthinking "autopilot" drivers on the roads as well these days.
Safe motoring and happy wrenching to everyone this winter. Let's build some cool stuff and kick some butt next race season!

Not for the lack of effort.)
