NASA HPDE/racing/Ultimate Track @ VIR July 23-25th
Car snapped the crank today... all the problems I was chasing yesterday were just symptoms of the crank walking on its way to shitting the bed.
Got my real taste of racing yesterday. It aint like DE. Factory 5 car pulls me by 5 cars on the straingt, slow in the corners early on the brakes. I'll do better today. Figuring where to pass and how much you trust everyone else is a bitch.
I had some really good fun in the Hyper Drive! My son timed me at 2:44. Considering that every lap at every twisty part I had to wait behind some slow cars before getting a point by, I wasn't too bad. I did have a 4 off experience right in front of Becca's Miata though.
lol tell everyone how much better you did today
Had fun, sweat a lot..but drank lots of water so i feel fine.
Saturday first time on Hoosiers at VIR + not being there for 2 months + Full time attack = 4 off in oaktree on warmup, little did i know that actually DQ's you for your 1st timed session, and you start in the back of the field on the 2nd session. Only got 2 laps in the #1 timed session Saturday from instructing a hyperdrive, and of those 2 laps..Brian Bowers lost something in front of me that was interesting to drive on. Session #2 i started 40th grid spot with 5 other really fast cars, and pretty much overheated tires working through traffic. Still managed a 2:22.x and 2nd place for TTmad.
Sunday was much better, i had a game plan to set a decent lap in warmup and get a good grid spot for the timed session. Well the hotlap timer was turned off (thanks derek haha). So i had no idea other then i felt like i went faster, as i was way more sure of my line and braking zones on the hoosiers. Ended up with a 2:20.11 in warmup. Got a decent grid spot, and lap 2-3 got some space from some courteous drivers. Managed a 2:20.0x. Enough for the TTmad 1st place spot.
My camera hates the heat, and me. So my video worked 1/3 of the time. F'ing lame.
Congrats to Kienan for winning his first and second race this weekend. Thanks to Mr. Harris on being a great "student", good times by all this weekend.
