DSM's are actually really good cars. They are just high maintenance. It's like a rotary engine they will last you forever as long as you take care of them.

 

Very true.. But just like a rotary engine they arn't made anymoe and hard to find one that was taken care of..
Now with ford.. no matter how well u take care of them they go to crap.. well SVT line seems to be pretty good but from what I HEARD the '03s had some problems at first...but then again what do u expect..

they are still made. the evo isn't a dsm, i know. but you are right. it is hard to find an example of a rotary or a dsm that has been taken care of.

Well, I know what you meant but rx-7's stopped coming over here in mid 95, I also believe only 500 came here that year. So it's not your average, I see you everywhere car like a civic. 9 out of 10 fd's I see are well taken care of, I know this from when I was looking toward purchasing one. Now the fc's.. heh.. thats a totally different story. Such a shame too. I know a lot of shops around here wil not even work on a rotary.

 

the best thing ford ever did was drop the 5.0...things only got better after 95

 

Don't pass judgment on mustangs based on your V6 model...I don't consider them anything more than a grocery getter.

Anyway, AWD DSM > NA Supra, by a long ass shot.

As for them being high maintenance, I call bullshit. The main problem is all these people are buying 15 year old 1g AWD turbo's from people at what they consider a "deal" price, when in actuality they are only priced so cheaply because the previous owner(s) didnt know what they had. Sounds good right? Hell no, anyone who doesnt know what they own when its a turbo'd awd car, is absolutely not going to maintain it the way it should, and will most likely beat the piss out of it. I have almost 0 problems with my car, and have quite a bit of work done to it, however the previous owner I know, and he took care of the car like a ferrari before I owned it, always using mobil 1 from day 1, and doing every single routine maintenance required at exact intervals. The problem isnt the cars, its the owners. Transmissions weak? You try putting down in excess of 300awhp and then launching from 5500rpms or more and see if your tranny holds up if you're tires arent roasted. Under normal driving the trannies are fine. And I dont wanna hear one fucking comment about crankwalk you whores

PS- just give it some time and at the rate I'm seeing these things beat on, WRX's are going to become the new rotary .
