I think you're confused..

Whats up Eric....before I get into this I must say I know nothing about it. But wouldnt the speed be different because of factors like wind resistance ect?
Like I said I have no idea but I always thought it was a bit different just like whe you tune a car on a dyno the a/f is bit different on the street

I'm pretty sure Rhombus is right on this one. The gear ratios aren't going to change. Factors like wind resistance and all that stuff are just going to make it hard to go past a certain speed or get up to a certain speed as fast, but the rpms are going to be the same.

Sure, they have an effect. But not on what RPM a car is going at a certian speed. The only effects wind would have are how fast a car would get to the speed. But the RPM and speed would remain the same.

gear ratio rear end: 3.73
tire size: 245R/50/16 overall diameter 25.6 inches
transmission: t56
3rd gear @ 6800= 105
4th gear @ 6800= 125+
5th gear @ 5500= ~155
6th gear @ 4000= ~165 been to this point but a frontal drag coeifficent of .462 enables this mph to be the truck's max speed.
-->feels like you are riding in a caddie.

You did 165 in your truck? On public streets/highways?

Don't want an open casket funeral?

A gear ratio can affect the hp on a dyno with the same car. The reason being the maximum rpm is met faster and before the maximum hp is met at the tires. take my car. a stock 3.27 gearing will yield a bit more rwhp than with my 4.30's. Dynojet will confirm this.

I agreed with james being there is no load, nor wind resistance placed on a car on a dynojet. It doesnt simulate real road conditions.

To Alfie, very nice person to talk to, let me here from you that I didnt beat u at the Alverser traffic light one evening after you got off of work form Circuit city. This is what Alfie told me he had done....after we raced.....if I remember correctly...
1. non STI, but with STI turbo
2. After market intercooler
3. Three inch down piping with 3'' exhaust
4. Upgraded fuel system
5. 18 PSI
6. street slicks all the way around
.....
The race...
Went from ~5mph roll to ~120mph passing BMW dealership....he will remember.[/QUOTE]

haha...i remember that, good times. Yeah that truck is mean, but ill get ya Damn dont tell all my secrets. Guys....he did get me, but i would have caught up. I really wanted to race from a stop tho, oh well, the drag radials are gone so i dont have very good traction like before. I messed with him because of the sticker too. Nice guy, not too cocky.
