155 bhp @ 6500 rpm

and according to honda the new civic si specs.

2.0L inline 4
16v DOHC i-VTEC
197hp@7,800
139tq@6,200

thats all im saying about comparing these two cars. as for the new civic si being slow, at least wait till its out to test drive it before saying its slow or that its fast.

It will be like every other stock Honda. Made for A-B transportation and slow as fuck.

Go take your Civic to a track day somewhere and report back what kind of mileage you get on a race track. I've had my Honda at quite a few track days and I got mileage below 10mpg....of course my Honda wasn't grocery getter as is the new (and old) Civic.
10mpg sucks lol well i had 3/4 tank on my 99 civic and I drove over 100 miles from portsmouth to the track up in petersburg then I did 7 runs on the drag strip before leaving and driving back to virginia beach and I had 1/4 tank left. All in total was around 230 miles in a day with plenty of gas left. What you do to get below 10mpg to your car?

I drove it on a real race track. Drag racing sportscars makes my momma cry.

I don't need to drive it.
ok let me put it this way, how many people on drag va that might actually buy this car would leave it stock? that is the whole point of customizing a car is to make it the way you want it. as for the weight issue the corvette someone was talking about weighs in at 3,179 pounds but granted it has 400 hp. but with little modification it is common to see a 2900 lbs civic with over 400 hp. everybody has to start somewhere with a shity car thats not fast as hell or looks the best on the street so i think the new civic is a great car for people that are getting their first car or who are new to the scene.

They are a great first car. But I still don't understand the whole point of modding a car that is ridiculously slow stock. Mainly 4 bangers. Can someone fill me in why it is so much fun to mod one? I'm actually interested.

Personal preference? If everyone were interested in the same thing, it wouldn't be a very interesting scene.

When the fuck did modification come into the picture, and how does that relate to the discussion?

Here's what was more or less said:

The 2006 Civic Si, as stock as it is the day it rolls off the showroom floor, is fucking slow.

Okay?

A Miata is a shit-ton better than a Civic. I'd even go so far to say my car has the edge on the bad-ass factor as compared to a Civic. And that does not speak well at all for Civics.
well according to the mazda website the brand new mazdaspeed mx-5 miata has only 178hp and weighs 2529 lbs. what is so bad ass about that?
