My 9 month old robbins top now has a hole in it from something, I'm assuming the latches i dont know. Anyone have any ideas on how to patch it or what to use to patch it before it rips more?

You can get some straps also that will prevent future tears from the soft top bars I believe. It's just where the bars rub the top as you retract and put top up that tears it.

Its not from that at all. My old top wore down there, this top is not worn there, its a rip near the latches where the bars dont come anywhere close to.

I just ordered some of the Black Hole Patch things. Hopefully that works. Otherwise I'm going to look for a fucking hardtop and gut this shit I guess. I hate driving with the top up, but I refuse to do that pain in the ass top replacement again.

I hate how much I enjoy this car. I wish it would sell already.

Went to the fabric store today and got some black canvas and then got some black permatex silicone. Using the black permatex on the back of the canvas to adhere it to the top, and then put some black silicone over the cut on the outside of the top to hopefully seal it a little better.

Hopefully this will hold until those Black Hole Patch things get here, which I'll either put overtop of the existing canvas patch for some double duty shit, or I'll take it up and try to clean it off as best I can to replace the canvas.

Thanks for the offer, but I've already bought a couple of things to try out. Hopefully one of these works well enough, I just needed something today as I'm going out of town tomorrow and really dont want it to get worse if I can try to prevent it.

If the tears are just aft of the latches, then it's most likely due to the top not folding correctly. The bar that sits right above your head is supposed to fold back as the top is lowering. If your elastic straps are worn (which is the case with 99% of S2000s), you have to manually push the bar back as the top is lowering.

Straps are brand new, so I doubt that would be it. I havent paid that much attention to it though. The top seems to fold fine, and it goes all the way down with no issues.

I washed the car and it held up pretty good, and I've put the top down and up a few times since doing the fix and no issues so far, so I think this might work for a while.

Check to see if the end caps are still there. What I mean by that is if you look at the end of the bars you should see a cap in place. If not then that's what's causing the tearing problem.
