On a 4cly or 6 cly why would you run a true twin set up? Maybe on a V6 but not a inline. Atleast on a V6 each bank of cylinders would spool a turbo. On an 8 cyl. I would definetly go twin turbo. On an 8 cyl. I would have to also disagree with this statement. Twins do spool faster and can make the same power.

Anything above that I think would be your 10.5 outlaw cars and such, and they typically run twin 88's. There are maybe a few guys left I think that a larger single but most are going to twins.
In this application I believe twins spool faster or reach peak boost quicker and can make the same amount of power as a larger single.

Doesn't really work like that. Yes it would load up the motor earlier, thus reducing RPM lag, but it would cause an increase in transient lag, which is much worse. If you're used to 5 speed turbo cars you never really realize how much you're losing on shifts. Look at some EMS logs of boost on a 5 speed vs auto car and you see a whole new world of RPM at the beginning of each gearshift

Damn thats a long sentence. sorry.
My original post was what you could do to reduce lag excluding an auto, two-step, or what have you.
On a v8, twins might be a good option, but like you stated the size of the turbo's must come down quite to have good spool characteristics. I remember when everyone was trying to do twin turbo setups on the 4g63 back in the day. I few even accomplished it only to realize how laggy it is. I think twin stock t-25's were even used and it was laggy as fuck.

However you are correct on a banked engine it is nice to run a seperate turbo on each bank, it does do better than running crossover pipes and one turbo.
Right, but when you lengthen the gear you thow the next gear further from it's powerband. With a big turbo on a 4 cyl the gear difference would have to be huge to make more than a 100 RPM difference. The taller gear would bog the motor more than the increased spool can help. Shorter gearing would actually be a bigger help because it'd put less bog on the motor when shifted and get the RPMs into it's powerband quicker.
Wasn't that the whole debate about lightweight flywheels? Everyone kept going back and forth about whether the upgrade was worth it. The stock flywheel revs slower but you see boost slightly sooner. Upgraded flywheels reduce the load, and make the motor more rev happy. Obviously now it's no question, but it was funny before how everyone was so afraid of 8lb flywheels and such.
Anybody need a 7 bolt clutch? I’ve got a Exedy Stage 2 with around 100 miles on it that I finally pulled off the car the other day. It’s attached to an aluminum fly wheel with a replaceable friction surface.

A long time ago I had a 90 crx with JG Engine Dynamics SOHC motor with quaife LSD and I think a 4lb flywheel. Talk about zing!!! Car went 9.2/13.9 at 96 mph on motor. This was back in '95-'96 when David Shih was the first honda in the 10's with a turbo and I saw David Buschur run 11.20's at MIR and Jeff Hill's burgundy w/ color matched wheels
first gen run 11.90's then drive back to Ohio. Now its common place to do this. Damn I'm old!!!By the way, hate to see you sell the Talon Spoolin4, best looking Talon IMO.

I'll have to check. I think I got it from somebody out of Grassroots Motorsports. It was made for autocrossing. Give me some ime to dig that up and I will let you know. Honestly I could be off on the weight, it was quite some time ago.
