Why not? When he says stock turbo, I think its more of the turbo that comes on the car stock, not so much how "stock" that turbo is. Hes using the same turbo that came on the car stock. Didnt add any extra parts, didnt take any away, just cleaned it up a little.

it still doesn't make it oem spec. When people desire to claim records in the car world, they tend to skew the truth in order to acheive that status.
besides, everybody knows all dyno's read differently and vary from day to day. They are in their nature dynamic variables. It was a rediculous endeaver in the first place on the part of Unabomber. but whatever.
He didnt say he was going for the most powerful oem spec turbo, just most powerful wrx with a tdo4. Why is it a rediculous endevor? Who knows, he may make more power on a lower reading dyno than any one else has on a higher reading dyno with a tdo4. Its great to have goals set for your car, it gives you that little extra motivation to work harder and try harder to meet those goals. You should try and stop being negative, and start suporting your fellow suby guys, and their goals.
awww.. do u need a hug?

a td04 is literally hundreds of combinations of turbos. ranging from all manufactures. But he did't claim that...he claimed he would break the record with stock turbo. When someone says stock....people usually think factory spec and unmodified. Not professionaly reworked and massaged.
its a rediculous endeavor because he will stretch the truth in order to reach his goal.
im not being negative. i have subaru pride and support as much as the next guy, but i just won't stand for misrepresentation and glory seeking people. kudos to him and his goals and i hope it pushes wrx enthusiasm envelope more and more. but i also hope he does it in an honorable fashion.

Well, when we went to the races last week, it was me, 3 Sti's and one WRX that was dyno'd to about 320's AWHP. They accepted me

He has a pretty peppy RSX (like even I may have trouble keeping up with the new motor). All I know is that a group hug from us (with a white guy, a black guy, and an asian guy) would look like one of those movement for peace pictures. And I see where your coming from with the whole stock turbo thing, well said.
