Are those subies reliable...I meant the GC8 body styles. I've been thinking about picking one up, but don't really know much about them.
ive never heard of any major issues with them. stock they are N/A so when you boost the transmission is the weak point. but stock for stock id rock the shit out of one

the GC/GM/GF body (old style) is lighter but its also less rigid and the transmissions are about as strong/weak as the WRX models getting the japanies STi RA transmissions are stronger but most opt for the 2-3k STi 6 speed trans out of the V7+ sti's
They're great starting points, from 93-01 they had the same body so you can buy an old one and put the 99-01 facia on it and most people dont know. and even though the availability is coming down wrx swaps are fairly cheap. and stock for stock a 2.5l wrx swap in an older body hangs tight with a current gen STi due to weight alone.
