Not to state the obvious here but that Datsun has an awful non-cross flow head with both exhaust and intake ports on the same side.
Sure it was state of the art, in the 1950s when Mercedes was still using it.
There are numerous reasons for the small block swap, not least of all the fact that both the Chevy and Ford small blocks weigh less than that iron blocked boat anchor that came with these cars. And if you use the JTR method the engine sits lower and much further back than the stock inline 6.
What the fuck do you drive? I'm sure a LS1 would fit in there, and its obviously a better powerplant then whatever the pathetic excuse for a Non-Sentra vehicle you choose to pilot in your pathetic excuse for a life.
Aside from JDM fanboi factor I can't think of any reason to keep the stock L Series inline 6.
