If i remember right when I was talking to a cop that use to come to my work all the time said, UNLESS THEY Fire first shot or try to stab you ect (putting your life in danger) then you can not shoot them, even if they are in your house stealing your TV. In the state of VA the thief has more rights to your car/tv's/anything in your house then you do. If you beat them, shoot them, stab them hurt them in any way the thief can press charges if i remember right. Someone please shed a little light on this if possible. Id like to know the HONEST truth/law's about someone in your house and when and what you can and can't do or if they are stealing your stuff or car.

 

Seems dead on with some cases my professor (also a lawyer in Nova) would talk about in class.

Here's one: If a burglar breaks into your home and is attacked by the home owners dog. The burglar can actually sue the family.

Pretty gay huh So his advice to the class was to get very friendly dogs.

 

I thought I'd read somewhere the counter suit outweighed that before...

 

I know the legal system is a bit fucked up. Its BS that a thief has more rights than you. Maybe I should start breakin into peoples houses.

 

Just don't do it in Texas. I wish VA laws were more like the laws in TX, haha
