Local S2000/Ferrari F40 owners dicsussion thread
SubscribeI had to lookup Vemma, I guess it's like Harbalife. Difference between MLM organizations and Pyramid schemes tends to be that the latter are more about signups and proliferating rather than sales. Girls have their own: Mary Kay and Thirty-One.
And to anyone that picks any oil, once you mod the engine, get an oil analysis done after your interval of typical use. It can be revealing as to how the oil holds up to torture or that you really don't need to change it.
Also for those that have high Zinc oils (you guys with the VR1), it's been proven by GM themselves that beyond break-in there is no need for levels of Zinc above consumer oils on most vehicles. And that goes doubly true for those with roller cams that don't have the same type of contact as the flat-tappet engines do. If you have the type of metal-to-metal contact a flat tappet motor does, you have an oil pressure or flow issue as a proper fluid bearing prevents this from happening.

In December, 2007, the publication GM Techlink, distributed to GM dealers, contained an
article by a GM lubrication guru, Bob Olree, of the GM Powertrain Fuels and Lubricants
Group. As well as debunking certain other erroneous ideas about oil, he addresses the ZDDP
question in detail. In that article, he flatly calls the concern about ZDDP a “myth,” citing the
extensive testing of modern oils for scuff resistance. One paragraph is especially worth
repeating here:
A higher level of ZDDP was good for flat-tappet valve-train scuffing and wear,
but it turned out that more was not better. Although break-in scuffing was
reduced by using more phosphorus, longer-term wear increased when
phosphorus rose above 0.14%. And, at about 0.20% phosphorus, the ZDDP
started attacking the grain boundaries in the iron, resulting in camshaft spalling.

And for you Royal Purple and Bel-Ray guys, they both just got bought out by Calumet this year so look for some (hopefully good) changes to their lineup.

I use Bel Ray in my dirtbikes.
And Rotella and OEM Honda filter is my street turbo motors. Why? Because it's cheap and it works.
And I seriously LOLOLOLOL'd when Grant said Amsoil is the VEMMA of motorsports.
+1 for Rotella, I think Shell know's a thing or two about development.Originally Posted by Jarrod
