Iv seen plenty of cars with tow hooks right there that work just fine without any paint damage. The strap doesn't even come close to hitting the hood while its in tow. I think its almost a better location then near the front bumper because if he does bury it into a wall more then likely the course workers will still have a quick an easy place to pull it out of the wall and tow it to the pits.
