I know this is a Poopstang thread, but to all the people who say C5s have parts fall off.... I've owned 4 of them, my parents 2, and my aunt has had two of them... plus everyone I know calls me with their C5 problems... never ever heard of a hood release or glovebox latch, or any othe rcomponent just falling off. Nor are they common issues on the main Corvette forums.... in fact I can't ever remember a single post about a part just falling off.

Sure there are complaints about cheap leather, too much plastic, part bin radio, etc. etc. but nothing of the sort mentioned in this thread.

Oh.... and I owned a '97 Cobra and have been in a few newer ones.... comparing a '97 C5 to my '97 Cobra the Vette was light years ahead...

They were also light years in price difference.

1) It's not like we're making shit up. At the very least I know I'm not. I'm sure there are plenty of Chevy Blazers that didn't have the parking break release come off in the owners hand, but that very same thing happened to my mom in her Olds Bravada years ago. The difference between good design and poor design is that things that never happen with good design rarely happen with bar design. It's like when my dad went to test drive a new Trans Am WS6, and when he opened the door the weatherstripping fell off. I'm sure you could open the door of 1000 Firebirds and not have it happen, but that it happened to that one is bad enough, and typical of The General.

2)The quality of a 97 Mustang and the quality of the newest Mustang generations are also light years apart.
