Pull the hub out, and then hammer the stud out. In the amount of time you wasted asking about it, you could have had it out and over.
Don't tell me you "can't", you just "won't".
1 hour tops to replace a wheel stud, hammering it out and in.
I've done it a hundred times with no press...

There are Two ways to do this: (1) beat out the old stud/chop/hack to get it out. Then cut the head of your new stud so it is shaped like A D.
or (2) Press everything out, Press everything back in. (While doing all of this replace worn parts as necessary.)

Its not the head thats stopping me, I get the whole "d" theory. Its the length of the new stud thats preventing it from getting in the hole. Theres simply no room.

Well then it sounds like you are going to have to pull the hub off and use a press or notch out your knuckle. I opted for the press route when I did my extended studs. I also replaced the ball joints and wheel bearings while I was at it.
