No, can't switch to syn if normal oil has ever been in the engine, they won't mix and will make a milkshake of oil and then form a solid and the motor won't turn.

you can switch if you have used regular oil before it doesnt turn into a solid. a higher mileaqge engine may leak if you switch but normally not the case.

Because it's still crap, that's why. If you have an engine that's old enough and tired enough to start leaking if you switch to synthetic oil, get a new engine or new seals, whichever makes more sense.

If your seals are so fucked that they start leaking when you switch oils, you need new seals.
