get a 500 it is a parallel twin!!! j/k but I am 210 and I ride my g/f all the time and it rides just fine. Just kidding I met you once so I know you are not down with that. get a 750.

I say 750 because you've stated that you liked your old one. Plus, since the bike is temporary, should be easier on insurance rates than a 1000, and that would help you stay on the fixed budget, but add some mods if it came to that.
