Could be a bad ground or could of messed the battery up or battery could even been did, or you could of blown a fuse of some kind or possibly something to do with ignition but prolly not

Sounds to me like he popped the main relay...does the fuel pump prime when he turns the key?
Also just because he has 12v at the starter doesn't mean the amperage is strong enough to fire. WHat gauge wire is it? Should be 0, 2 gauge at minimum
