Go with an Arai or a Shoei, they are the best crash tested helmets on the market. I wear an Arai and I would put anything else on my head!

i believe in getting the most for my money, but i wouldn't necessarily not buy from a dealer, some of them are dicks, but also some are really cool shops the rely on local support to stay in business... i would be straight up with them, say i can get it for $XX.XX online, i don't have a ton of money but would prefer to buy locally, could you maybe come close to that, atleast give them a chance... and if they give you an attitude then you don't want to do business with them in the first place, i usually say i can't match that price exactly but heres what i can do, remind them that atleast if theres a problem they can return it right to me directly, and don't have to pay shipping, and you can have it right now, and with all the frauds out there(i lost 500$ on an arai) which you can no longer get online, well you can, but a real reputable dealer cannot sell them online

I got my last helmet at D&D. They don't have a HUGE selection, but they've got several good options and the fairest prices I've seen locally. I ended up getting their most expensive full face helmet and it was 150 bux. Snell approved and all that good stuff. Good bunch of folks over at D&D too. Last time I was at Casey in NN they had a decent selection, but I paid a good bit of $$ for my HJC there.

And I'm all for saving a few dollars, but I have to agree with Del - support a local business. In my experience, the few extra pennies you spend in a local business vs. mail order or online ordering is more than made up with free advice and things like that down the road. Get to know the guys in your local shop, they take care of their loyal customers.
