There's plenty of ways to do it.

For heavy grease I start with a cold or cool engine. NEVER SPRAY COLD WATER ON HOT SHIT.

I've tried soaking with cleaners letting it run, and letting it steam up in there. That's also a great way to easily clean.

true story it happened to my brother. idk what engine cleaner he used, but it must have been some strong acid lol

i honestly get in there with a rag and tire shine. sounds weird but it works wonders for me. good ole elbow grease. it sucks the first time then just wipe it down every other week or so and it stays clean

brake cleaner fried an alternator once upon a time...or maybe it was carb cleaner.. just be careful where u spray stuff on/into

Chlorinated brakleen will take paint off if your not careful!!!!!!!
