Yeah that sounds weird. I imagine they just weld the turbo flange where the stock manifolds bolted to the collector. The turbo Volvo dude on here did something similar. It's not such a bad idea, but you can gain a LOt with tubular manifolds vice the two log manifolds dumoing to the one.

But I imagine that does cut the cost of the kit considerably, so it's probably good. You'd probably lose about 500 RPM of spool time using the set-up, but it will still rock.

My only thing is the small DP for a decent sized turbo. I should think 3.5" would be the smallest you would want.

... a 3" dp isn't exactly small? it's not huge, but I'd say it's sufficient for an off-the-shelf turbo kit.
you sound like t0oc0ol and welding turbo flanges. I bet it's an adaptor plate, if anything kinda like the honda hf manifold or something?
