Perfect, then what I said is exactly what you are looking for.

the 85 and up roller motor had a roller cam and a different firing order than its earlier windsor models.(for those that don't know 289, 302, 351). Just because it is called a "roller" motor does not mean it has a full roller valve train. the only car that came from ford with roller rockers is the 93 cobra. and as for the superior motor to choose it would be a 87-92 302 H.O. 85 had a 8.5-1 compression with dished pistons. 86 had 9-1 compression with flat top pistons and no valve reliefs. 87-92 still had a forged pistons at 9-1 compression with valve reliefs. the only change thru 87-92 were minor cam changes. as for 93 and up they were no longer forged.

As for the heads e-7's were the way to go. these were used on the 87 to 95 motors.

As i said, 93 cobras had the roller rockers. "Roller Motor" refers to the mid 85 year when ford changed to a roller camshaft, and in turn used lifters that had "rollers" on them for reduced friction. This meant changes to the block for the lifter guide tray. Early 85 motors were flat tappet.
