I remember stating a few weeks back, that Iraq pays similair prices to what that article just confirmed, yet I got flamed for it. And someone brought up, well their quality of life... yadda, yadda, yadda.

It's because all the oil companies are working together (exxon, shell, etc...). Have you noticed that when one company raises its price, every other gas station in the area increases their price that same day? All the oil companies work together and try to keep the profit high for eachother. Sounds like a gas monopoly to me, or at least a trust of some kind...

But hey, we can sue bill gates for owning too much of the computer industry and he actually kept computer prices low...

when Shell pays 70$ a barrell, they then have to refine that, who Knows how much that costs, then u gotta ask how much Gas do they get from 1 barrel, might be 1 gallon?, hence why they convey the prices down to u...

 

I think they probably get more then 1 gallon out of 70 gallons of oil.
In fact, I went and looked it up. 42 gallons of gas per barrel.
