I don't think insurance companies "hate" the srt-4...It's simple numbers and stats they look at...It's rare that anyone sees a corvette pulled over or in a wreck...I see or here about srt-4s almost every weekend.

Told you a Vette is cheaper. My insurance dropped nicely when I went from a Stang to the GTO even with the magic "400" hp number that raises insurance.

the C5 are pretty reliable on the vette forum there are a few guys with 200k+ and one guy with 300k+ easily go over 100k.. cost to maintain is expensive tires arnt cheap, oil is sythetic mobile 1, 7quarts at a clip. most parts arnt to bad, because they work on other LS1's but the corvette specific parts can be costly.
it's true, there are to many of these cars in the wrong people hands. how many parents would buy there kid a v8 sports car for there first car. then you put a spring on your waste gate 2.00$ at home depot and cap the red line, get it to hold 17psi to redline. 250-260 whp now you have the power to weight, of most v8's. or 2000 for a big turbo kit and your looking at 400 to 700 whp depending on the trim of the turbo. insurance company's surf forum's they know what the hell they are doing

The Vette is a fucking awesome ass car. My only gripe with it, is me being as big as I am, it would be a bitch to get in and out of for a daily driver. For you it would work fine

As far as performance goes, it is a LS1, so the possibilities are endless for it. Reliablitity like said before is like any car, is in how you take care of it. Too bad Chandler still doens't have his near here, we could have a little C5 on C5 action.
I know that Holiday Chevrolet on 2nd Street has a 00 Vette for sale, I'm not sure on what price/options are though.
