Defintely doable. Your best bet is to make a methanol injection kit for it. You would still be able to run 93 octane and you wouldn't have to retard your ignition as much either. No need to upgrade your fuel system (injectors pump etc).

Otherwise you are looking at having to run leaded race gas all the time which get expensive and it sounds like you want to do this on the cheap.

high compression with boost not a good combination. you will have better resaults with like 9:5:1 with boost

Your Compression ration is like 12.497... 12.5:1. Not going to work with boost at all with a stock Z6

boost build compression

but, high comp + turbo = no lag...good tune, dont high boost all the time, you will be fine imo, you may want to run ras gas/mixture though

Define "better results". He'd make more power with the higher compression and have less lag at the same time, as long as it's tuned. You can't just flat out say he'd be better off with lower compression.

Judging from all the previous posts, this is what its coming across like:

If you want a powerful engine, do it.

If you want your engine to last a long time, don't do it.

By the way, how many miles does the engine have on it?

^ go to the thread above there is alot of helpful info on high compression turbo cars. i.e. methanol injection to keep cylinder temps down.

Ethanol would work also, it's pretty much the same but higher octane, and you can get bioethanol for pretty cheap in many areas now. The latent heat of vaporization is a tiny bit lower though, 0.93 MJ/kg for ethanol vs 1.17 for methanol (water is 2.258), which means ethanol won't be as effective (but close). It's also less toxic and better for the environment as a fuel.
Plus,I can go down the street here and get bioethanol from a gas station, which can't be said for methanol.
As long as the seal materials are compatible, you should be able to use a meth injection setup for ethanol as long as you change the amount being injected, which needs to be tweaked anyway..
