I think I would have turned him in. You just don't know what would of happened. He could write you a bad check or skip town. Don't feel bad. Good luck with your situation.
Would you have let him go, or would you have turned him in? I feel bad about it, but I think he's going to get nailed to the wall based on the situation. His drinking and driving turned into hit and run, which if I'm not mistaken is a felony in Virginia. When I got done with the police report, I drove by where he said he lived on my way home and the street was swarming with several police cars. I'm sure he went right home and probably forgot all about it.
Actually a its only a felony if the damage is over $1000 and him leaving the scene is gonna be his best bet at beating the dui. I would agree with everyone else though, I would turn him in too.
Sorry to long for me to read. Did this happen on Williamson??
I didn't even want to say where it was at because I'll get the typical "serves you right for being out there" type responses.. Yes, it did. I was on my way home from someones house over that way, so I figured I'd see what all was out on the way to my house. In an attempt to drive from the Walgreen's area to get to the other end of Williamson Road, I get rear ended.....
And my neck is still sore. I'm decided to say "fuck it!" and go get it checked out. I've been in accidents before where my neck hurts for a while and never said anything about it... that's not going to happen this time where I just bite my lip and hope the drunk driver doesn't get too much punishment. My fucking neck hurts, rot in jail for risking other peoples lives by drinking and driving.
i def think that you did the right thing. if he was that drunk, he shouldnt have been out at all. that could have been a child killed or anything...
but unfortunately no one seems to really take drinking and driving seriously unless someone is hurt or killed.... like I said before, I saw two people basically walk away from dui's in court.. $250 fine and a class, not on their record.
