Why not Turbo the 5.0? Hell everyone knows that V8's have great low end torque...so why would you compound the traction problems, and spend more money?
USE the V8's natural power to get off the line and then let the boost take over. Less traction problems and better mid range to top end pull.

Hell, at least you can drive the damn thing normally out of boost and get better MPG. Last time I checked...you couldn't do that with a blower.

But who am I? just another honda driver.

Colt45 will become famous soon enough

Turbo is awesome on a 5.0 but very expensive. Most kits i ve seen run about 4 to 5 grand new then whatever you spend in labor or fabrication to get it on. i think the 94-95 models are harder to install a turbo kit then the foxes. But you can easily build a powerful N/A motor for about that much too.

yeah buddy, thats what ill be doing. as for turbo kits. this is not b or d series kit. fabrication alone is a lot of work and the kits carry a hefty price tag. I could find a supercharger complete with fuel management around 2k maybe less if im fortunate. But when i have the proper fundings then ill go the other route. And i have seen some nasty n/a motors but i really like boost. any how everyones getting some nice ideals out. I know there are mustang owners on drag and i was going to see there builds and the outcomes. keep this thread going for a lil bit.

gears, 373's at least would be my absolute first mod. no question. afr 165's, an E cam and a good intake for starters, get a good exhaust and let her eat. be a solid 12sec car.

well i just talked to previous owner and he did gear work. 3.73s are what was used. he said with nitto tires it did a 14.2, which i thought wasnt bad. after the headers back is a solid 3 inch all the way out so i feel thats settled. im going to get some cobra heads since i heard the stock gt 5.0 heads on the 8th cylinder doesnt like boost. also on those earlier 5.0s i heard that they were way underated and should of been around the svt 240 hp. so those are nasty lil 306s that ford used and thats deffently going to be my back up block. what s/c should i look into?

Most Mustang owners go for centrifugal s/c's which are more top end oriented than even turbos..and as mentioned earlier unless your good at fabricating yourself its gonna be damn expensive to run a turbo setup.

I don't know about that. Turbos are well know for their top end power. But I will give you the fact that the centrifugal type SC's are the better and stronger type of supercharger that also share characteristics with the turbo. But...it is still belt driven, and still a low end to mid range power adder.
As far as turbo/sc mustangs goes, I'm not a V8 guy. but I will say that vids talk...and although I DO understand expensive...I don't know of any V8 daily drivers around here that can put down an 8.86 quarter. (I could be wrong...so school me)

http://www.lvracingscene.com/videos/..._Troy_8.86.wmv

Hell, in another run, he hit the wall and still put down a 9.73

http://www.lvracingscene.com/videos/...s_The_Wall.wmv

Now, I'm quite sure he has more than a simple turbo kit under the hood, but it doesn't change the fact that he is wickedly fast for a full bodied.

I think most V8 guys run blowers and not turbos is because...as you put it...extensive fabrication, and damn expensive. Well that and most don't need 800+rwhp and a 8 sec daily driver. I really don't think that turbos are that much more expensive as a kit. I do know that they have more options which if you go all out...can be very expensive.
I have installed a vortec SC on a local friends S2000, and although he made a little over 300rwhp, he will never make 500+ WHP as I've seen many time with a turbo on www.s2ki.com.

I sorry if I've pull this a bit off topic, but if you looking for FAST! then IMO the fastest full body 8's or anything for the matter are running turbos.

not really looking for the fastest car, that really doesnt get me anywhere and theres always going to be someone faster. but 800 horses would be nice but im in college and work full time and dont want all the hassle. More power will be more problems if i go and push it. ive been in a few 12 and 11 second cars and i was really impressed and anything faster would be to much for me right now. so the belt driven s/c's arent really worth it or what?

I didn't say that. I was just mentioning the bennies of the turbo on a V8.

If you're not looking to pro drag, then a SC will work just fine for you.
