The reason the gas is colored is just dye, it is dye'd to help law enforcement identify off road fuels. If u are pulled over a cop can dip a straw in your gas tank, and if it comes up colored you can be charged with tax evasion! Off road fuels are not taxed and are not for highway use. 89oct. comes in colors too, if you buy them from a marina because it is off road gas therefor not taxed.
