The steering sux in 4wd. Your turning radies is cut in half. It tends to push the wheels foward instead of turning. I actually have lockrights front and rear but i have them set up to where they dont realese. Theres a spring inthem that uses a certain pressure point in them to release the locker. I have a solid piece of steel in it with no spring so it stays locked. I would recomend not fully locking the front unless its used only for off road.

I am trying to set my 71 Blazer up for a good all around vehicle, mud, rocks, sand, trails. I recently took it out mudding and it did good considering I have mud terrain tires and an open front diff and a limited slip in the rear. I know front and rear lockers are the way I need to go, but I just wanted some input on welding the front for the time being, not welding the back. By the way this is not a daily driver, that what i have a 95 civic hatch for.

well shit if you dont drive it on the road then weld them bitches up. Thats the cheapest locker you can get. Just weld front and rear. And yes you can drive on a spool. Ill take you for a spin in my truck with them. Its front wheel drive cars like the one in your sig that cant drive with a spool on the road. The only thing the spool will do in the back end is hop and chirp around turns and fish tail in the rain if you hit it to hard.

Throw an aussie locker in the front. It's what Marlin was running for a long time, and everything he wrote about it was top notch...

Weld the rear, put an aussie locker in the front. Or, do it right and go ARB. Welded front diffs are a horrrrrible idea.

Why are you opposed to welding the rear? Tons of people run it. Hell, I have friends who run it on the street. It isn't near as bad as people think.

All lunchboxes are pretty much the same. You get what you pay for. If I was to replace it, I'd probably put a selectable.

The aussie seems to be the best as far as strength/noise goes. Sadly i'm selling my 88 4runner.

Know anyone in NOVA who wants 63" Chevy leafs? I've also got a rear smitty built bumper, and a set of warn out 35x14.5x15 on black rock crawlers layin around...
