Sounds like a pretty good deal. Just make sure you look over the car with a fine-toothed comb and check the VIN out with carfax -- you probably know the drill.

Your timing chains are probably still fine at under 80k miles. Those will only need to be replaced anywhere between 100k-150k (when they start to get noisy). A good time to replace the chains and guides are when you need to replace your clutch! The transmission has to come out for both jobs, so it's good to knock them out at the same time and save a few bucks.

Oh BTW, let me know when you get it because I have a brand new H&R rear sway bar for sale with mounting hardware. I'm looking to get $125 for it.

golf for a gti is pretty rare, i think i have only seen one on vortex, anyways ull love the car and its worth it. Ive driven my friends vr6 as opposed to my now sold 1.8t and it drives nice, id go for the 1.8t but its all up to you. The deal you have sounds good.

I believe it is the 22mm version. A friend of mine bought both front and rear H&R sway bars from Parts4VWs.com. I helped him put the front on when we installed his H&R Cup Kit, but we never got around to installing the rear bar. He sold the Mk4 12v VR6 GTI to get an R32 and now I have his sway sitting in my garage.
