And jus changing the Ignition will not work on a VW, U would have to change the Cluster, ECM, keys, lock cylinders.

Sorry, I have to disagree. "low boys" or what ever my boss called them, few seconds...bam car is yours. I mean if you look from a thief's eye's. If you change all that shit you can have pretty much a brand new car for...hmm under 1500???

CLUSTER - 1J0-920-906-N COMB.INST 489.12$
REMOTE - 1J0-959-753-DC TRANSMITT 118.06$
KEY - 1J0-837-246-F-INB KEY 95.63$
LOCK - 3B1-837-015-AK LOCK 366.28$ ( ONE LOCK, NEED 3 )
RADIO - 1JM-035-157-P RADIO 609.92$ ( REQUIRED FOR IMMOBLIZER)
ECU 06A-906-032-MC MODULE 1523.19$
TOTAL - 3202.20$

Now if a Theif actually spent that much cash prior to stealing your car, then that is personal not ill go steal one for the hek of it.

And alot of these parts cannot be ordered w/out a VIN Ecu Printout, Which only VW dealers have the ability to do atm.

This is a case of Oh ill let someone test drive my car and them not come back and ill make an elaborate story about my car being stolen by a tow truck, Either that, or Someone didnt pay the damn Car Payment.

Now we all know no one in there right mind buys parts like these from the dealer especially dealership prices. If you are a car theif and that is all you do, I'm pretty sure you can get those parts for next to nothing.

You dont understand, this isnt a Honda that u can take parts from an Accord and it will work on a Civic.

Think of a VW as a Secure network, with all its computers having Hard Keys. Every part has a color code. A GTI might be a 1.8t or a Vr6, but NOT all 1.8ts are the same, neither are the Vr6's,

1.8s have like 4 different Engine Codes, and Vr6's have like 9 different models.

And each of these have Different Sensors that do the same thing, but are totally Different connectors.

You would have to goto a Dealer for some of these parts, Most Stores like Advanced, and Autozone, will steer you to the Dealer.

I find it odd that a car that was made for only a few years made it near the top of the list.

Also, the years aren't listed for the GTI. I could see the older ones being a lot easier to steal...

Moriar, bro.. trust me.. it can be done easier than you think.

Hell, if I needed all of those parts, I could make a quick call to UndergroundVWParts (VW restorer/salvager in Florida) and pick up several of the things you say can only be ordered from a dealership. When someone wants something bad enough, they have a way to make it happen.

I'm not saying it's easy to steal a VW, but it's definitely possible..
