my point exactly. if you can't keep up with a stock z28 you don't need to be racing your "performance car" becuase thats simply not performing. I hate going to the track and having to wait ages for the 15 sec and above club to go by. Yes sometimes its just a bad driver and they will eventually do better but rarely is that the case. hence reson the street races are on spot light. ppl racing just stupid stuff. 4 door SOHC vtec accords with 18s. And why do ppl with some pep under the hood feel they have to stomp these cars to the ground? I can understand maybe out launching them into 2nd gear. but ppl go into full import killing mode for nothing sometimes. Be responsible and think about others people.

Also just because you completely walked that brand spanking new Gt2 porsche with 30 day tags in your turbo h22 hatch DOESN'T mean the guy paid to much for that "slow POS" that car is a world class performer that can take your car many ways from sunday (i can't believe i said that).
Its not about how much money you spent. its about doing it right and being (insert high standing postion here) of the streets. weather its a v8, v10, boxer 6 , rotary etc.

There are many Engines that can get you there, Which engine you choose is up to you........

 

since when were gts and z28 high 14 second cars?? try 13.9-14.2 GT and a tenth or two faster in the Z...14.7 inst that fast...but wake up...V8s are running sub 14 seconds stock...maybe the old ones but the new ones have a bit more gopower but you did say "nowaday", ESPECIALLY the z28. around 310-15 hp stock ls1 is friggin fast...even the 275 lst is real fast. Get your numbers straight before you start comparing things

 

for people arguing E.T.'s, it depends mostly on the driver, timing, knowing the car etc is a HUGE part of times, v8's come with power, and to turn a 4 cylinder, low displacement engine into a powerplant that can compete with more powerful engines is silly in a sense because the cars are meant for economy (most) but on that same note, a 4 banger that can compete, is worth mine and your attention.. in the end isnt it about the sport, having fun and the hobby of making your ride an extention of your personality, which is something i think most 'ricers' or 'push-rod heads' forget these days...GEESH

 

i have no prob with anyone racing any car if the cars are close to each other's capabilities, the driver should show which is better building and driving, but there is little to no sportmanship around here because (i do not intend to offend anyone here) where i live there are rednecks that have camaros and stangs that have aftermarket exhaust and thats it and the tear down on my crx all the time because it is honestly slow (HF Crx) which i find to be pussy because the only car i beat with it is a 2ng gs teg (all driver there) but the sportsmanship does not exist around here for no good reason its just large displacement vs buiding small displacement. I have no problem with any cars since i like a wide variety, and i dont care very much for e.t.'s either, jus race down the road with no cops to shut the other up if talking trash or jus to have fun running. just my $.02

 

va2kgt: i did say nowadays , but i was going bye the 87-93 stangs e.t's. that was my fault. and yes the newer stangs do have a bit more power. i am a die hard mustang fan and i have owned 6 in the last two years, so before you start acusing someone about not knowing anything , maybe you should get YOUR facts strait.... but no hard feelings here... im just stating my opinoin

 

My view if anyone cares to read

I could see owning a 4cyl or 6cyl car and build it up to be somthing sneaky fast. I dont understand, however, why people put flashy stickers, wings, ground effect kits, led lights. They roll around in these over done slow 4cyl cars but drive them like john force or mario andretti. I think most of us domestic guys, regaurdless of how slow the car is, finds some pleasure in crushing every bit of confidence these "ricers" have. The drive around like there trying out for the F&F sequal, and when they step a little out of there world (running a ls1, 4.6 or other v-8 car) its just fun to put them back in there place. Reality check, you could say. You could say... well, your car has a ground effects kit, your car has a eye catching pait scheeme.. but ahhhh.. I havent forgotten the performance side of things. My car looks as fast as it drives. Not saying my car is any faster than anything else out there but it doesent screem 10's and run 15's either. Thats just my view.

 

i never said you didnt know anything, i just said its not fair to compare new hondas to old fords or vise versa. Not that id really changed your point, but i dont want anyone thinking a stang or camaro isnt able to pull down a high 13 "in stock trim" "nowadays"

 

Why should they show "good sportsmenship"? Think about it. YES the CRX CAN be build into a crazy street killer. But is yours? You say the only car you can beat is a 2g Gs teg which to won cuz of driver diff? Think about that. You are driving a Econo box. In full economy trim. Though you can turn it into a race car. it is not. Now when you drop a turbo b18 in it and beat your first cobra You will get respect. untill then what do you expect? Your taking up space at the races with a car that doesn't belong there in its current state of tune. Go get some numbers initialy and come back when you got something to RACE with.

Not to sound mean. Racing is great but sometimes the cars out there make no sence.

Its not that the v8s don't respect you cuz you drive a small displacement car. or a imported car Its that your racing a car that doesn't prove there is a replacement for displacement. You can argue all day about it. but untill you have proof on the end of your key chain don't bother. You want repect? SHOW them your Replacement. If you don't have it. comeback when you do.

Capster78, building on what you said, the overdone ricers is really out of control, like a full body kit with a giant wing and all this goofy shit... now if theyre just trying to look good and not talkin shit well then go on and do your bad thang, but if you have all that shit and ur talkin trash like your something fast, I invite ANYONE to stomp their asses... now let me put something else in perspective.. in the 60's - 70's people were doing the same thing, well almost, taking average cars and turning them into wild creations, there was the same shit then, as there is now, and there will always be... just the way the teddybears have their picnic...

 

imports are popular now. most 16 year olds would rather have a civic Si than an SS. why? because theyre trendy. people are going to do what they want with their cars. it doesnt bother me. i just laugh at the kids who drive stock civics and only have big dreams to back their talk up with. its like this: if you want a fast stock car, dont buy something with less than 200hp. its just a bad idea. if you have some money to mod your car, imports can be just as fast as domestics, even faster. you just have to pay to play.
