it cannot be smaller than 13" in diameter.


airbags can be disabled, but must be done with a letter of certification from NHTSA. meaning, unless you want to deal with governmental bullshit, it aint gonna legally happen.

Yea, I got failed because of this, I measured it, and the thing was like 12.5" in diameter, lol. Just put the other wheel on, but it's proof it depends who's doing it, I mean come on, .5" to small in diameter? And the dude even told me to put my other wheel on and switch them after he passed it. lol.

its for inspection. whether there is a code on the books for one as an actual moving violation i have no idea, but if you get pulled, technically you can get an improper equipment summons.

page 110-2 of the inpection handbook, section 13.

"inspect for and reject if:

any modification or replacement has been made to the steering wheel which affects proper steering. The steering wheel shall be rejected if the outside dieamerter is less than 13 inches, unless original factory equipment"



thats what the book says.


whether or not its called upon by the individual inspector, thats one thing. if it passed, then thats fine, but dont say who or where did it.

while okay then iknow the steering wheel has to be above 13 inch diameter but do you need a air bag in it.
