Maybe if she learned how to drive.

I went to Bondurant and they showed us how to manage a car with a tire blow out and then took us out in Ford (OMG!!!!) Econline vans and drifted them at 90+ around the track.

Suprisingly I'm still here.

If you don't know how to control a car decently, then if a tire blows out, you're going to have problems

The difference is those companies didn't know their products would kill people. And when they found out, they paid their dues. Recalls were issued. Vehicles were fixed. What did Ford do? Nothing. Well, they DID blame Firestone, and that turned out to be bullshit, but at least Brifgestone restructured as a result of Ford's finger-pointing and came back stronger than ever.

Okay. Look it up then. Let's see some proof that any other manufacturer knowingly released a deadly product in the name of making a few extra nickels.

Her tire didn't blow. A trailer swerved at her and she put a wheel off the road when she tried to avoid it. I've never seen anything go over so quickly in my life. I'm sure better driver education would've helped, and not that a Blazer or Durango wouldn't have done the same thing, but it really triggered my curiosity about the whole issue and when I started digging I came up with a lot of scary shit about Ford.

So no one has ever been killed in a Honda?

With the Explorers, it was obvious that the tire failures were causing the problem, but did Firestone get blamed for it? Nope. Once they started putting Goodyear tires on the car, the roll over rates dropped significantly... considering it still is a vehicle with a high center of gravity, of course the roll over rates are going to be higher than that of a sedan, coupe etc.

You only seem to call out Ford, yet the practices are the same across the board.

Bottom line = capitalism

Oh, and Ford isn't going anywhere. The same shit happened to Chrysler ~25 years ago and they’re fine.

You don't think that Suzuki knew that the Samurai could roll over with a high COG and short wheelbase?

Please.

Furthermore, if people knew how to drive they wouldn't roll their SUV if a tire blew out.

Funny. Because I was in a Jeep that did the same thing.

Explain.

My father is an insurance agent. He's put more people in the ground for this reason than any other. And guess what, they weren't all driving SUVs. Most victims are young, inexperienced "kids" in sub $15K economy cars.

Sure. People have been killed in every kind of car. Can you find Proof that Honda knowingly released a deadly product? Or GM? Or Chrysler? Or Toyota? Or Yugo?

The Firestone thing was always a bullshit scapegoat from Ford. None of those tires were ever found to be defective. But they complied anyway and they're stronger now because of it.

Chrysler was bailed out. Who will bail Ford out? This isn't the '80s anymore.

Daimler is the only reason Chrysler is any sort of fine IMO.

Did the test drivers flip that Jeep hundreds of times before the first one was ever produced? Did Jeep know it would flip like that and make the concious decision to produce it anyway, knowing its customers would die?
