My recco (Yoko AVS ES100) was for daily driven cars.

Well i've found 2 Yoko's From Tire Rack for
$191.70
2 Nitto's for $176
after hearing the dismal wet handaling of the 512's i'm libel fo not consider the Falkens at all.
I am worried about the tread wear on the Yoko's though. 280 ain't much, and i've already smoked a pair of tires in a matter of 8 months. Not that burnouts INCREASE tire life...

I am seriously considering the Yoko's, Nitto's and the Kuhmo's to a lesser extent. W rating is nice... H is gay. especially since i've gone past that before...

well, doc, you should get out and autocross now. the reason is, you'll definately be able to 'see' the difference once you install all of that stuff. the other thing is, if you haven't already bought all of it, you'll learn about what you'll need and what you won't need. you really want. get it? see, the subframe connectors and stuff will help for sure, but (i don't remember if you listed a new front sway) a front sway will cause you to push. not whatthe Kumho's 712 Ecstas are pretty soft and they tend to be narrow. for example, my 205/50/15's are about the same size width-wise as my Bridgestone Potenza RE910's are in 195/50/15. I liked my Falken Ziex 502's when i had them. oh! how about some Sumitomo HTR's? good tire. nice and grippy, but they don't like true tarmac (helicopter pad) very much. in fact, they tend to shred.
hey! how about a CNUMotorsports sponsored autocross? or at least maybe we should arrange for an event to be attended by the majority. guess i need to finish building one of my cars. if nothing else, i would be willing to help get you started and help you acquire data from each of your runs.

I have owned five different kinds of Yokohama tires in my life and these are by far the best, including tread life. But I haven't had them long enuff to let you know exactly how long they last. I can honestly say though that they seem to maintain tread better the tires I've owned in the past. And I've put em thru some abuse already.

Ditch the Kuhmos. I have no experience with the others you mentioned. I'm not one to hype a product I don't really believe in; and I've got to give the ES100's a until they give me reason to change my mind. Not to mention that four of my teammates are also happy with theirs.

Mine are Z rated of course!

Sorta off topic, but how do those assist in auto-xing? I know they should help in drag racing. Just curious?

it reduces body flex like a muther farker... and that's always good...

it basically makes the frame pre-stressed so it won't move much at all.

traction is traction.
autocross or drag.
you just want to have the most amount of contact patch hitting the pavement. i guess it's sort of like have an upperstrut tie bar underneath the car a bit further back.
now, there is such thing as too stiff...for cars!
