There are more than a few differences between 03-04 cars and an aftermarket 96-98 4V to warrant the extra gear. The heads don't flow as well and the cams are certainly less torque producing than the later variants from what I'm told. It would be a shame to do it and then have to change them again

 

Yeah The 03-04 heads and cams make more power and have more low end torque than the B heads and my cams.

I am going to leave the gear, tweak the suspension and tires and see what that does first.

Yeah MightyMouse, Adam(red 02 hawk thats got a sick blower) and I were talking last night at SATS and they suggested to leave the gear in and see what it does.

 

Thats cool, might want to look into some axels w/ thats combo because they arent going to last too long.
