Passing inspectiongs with aftermarket steering wheel
Incorrect. Any State Inspector will first insert the key into the ignition, and turn it to the "ON" position, if the airbag light does not come on, you have failed. and will be rejected.
i want to take it for security purposes. My car was stolen two weeks ago. I posted about it. So i want to get a quick release with a aftermarket steering wheel to take off for the added security. Not for racing. Anyone with some real experience with this. I don't want suggestions but if someone actually knows first hand.
I've got one, but put it in after inspection. When it comes time next year, I'll see what they say, and just replace the components if it wont pass. Like the other guy said, it takes less than 1 hr to install/remove.
I will do the install and remove thing. I have to figure out how to do that first though when i get it. I need the steering wheel puller for this, correct? Thanks everyone.
Where is the fuel pump relay? I can also wire up a switch to that for a kill switch right?

Yeah a good inspector will fail you due to lack of airbag...but this question doesn't come up often cuz if you're at the point where you're switching steering wheels, there's prolly 100 other things on your car that are illegal. Best bet is to find a hookup or just slip the guy some extra money. Fudging state inspections are much MUCH easier than emissions.
-Disconnect battery.
-Remove cruise control or any steering wheel buttons.
-You will need a torx screw i think to remove the airbag.
-19MM socket i think removes the wheel itself.
It's been a few years since I've done it so if I'm wrong about these steps, someone please correct me.
Last time i went in for safety inspections I passed just fine. So this would be the only problem that I am going to have in taking it in this time.
