i recommend navy fed if you can. if you have a friend that is already a member, all you have to say is that you are a roommate. thats how i got in, after a couple months just call and change your address on record. i have a friend that is a personal banker at bank of america, he can help set you up as well.

definitley navy fed!!! also, chase bank is great my crv and s2k are financed through them, and they are even more helpful and easy to get a hold of than nfcu. they have a lot of them up in chicago, but not sure how many are down here, probably just a couple. chase is starting to buy out a lot of bigshot banks.

I just left BBT since they kept messing up with my loan payments, aith draft and they could never take money out on time, and when they did they took too much and had to give some back or they didnt take enuff and then charged ME for not paying it all... i left them and moved all my stuff to Bank of America.. i love it so far.. I can use my card to get food in the drive thur and when i get home to eat i can look it up online and see the money already taken out for the food.. i love knowing how much money i really have on there.

any Credit Union will be better on rates, but i left VA Credit Union cause they didnt allow me to use my ATM card anywhere w/o a fee... 1 dollar per use but that adds up. and limited branchs sucks too, sometimes going in there for laon work and stuff is like the DMV soo long i jus walk out and go back later hah.

That sucks, my old roomate told me it wasn't required any more and that he could sign up. That cheap bastard probably used my name without me knowing.

If you're active duty and not Navy (unless you have a sponsor) then go with USAA. They reimburse all ATM fees, free checks, etc. They also have a great loan department AND insurance (some of the cheapest rates around). For instance, my wife had Allstate since she was 16 (was on her parents account but at 18 switched to her own - but still had a record with them). She had the preferred customer rates, etc, etc. though we called USAA just two months ago and they extended cheaper rates to us than what Allstate was giving her... imagine that. Her a customer for 16 years and USAA beat Allstate's rates in just a 15 minute phone call. I had them when I first entered the Navy, but switched onto my wifes Allstate account when we got married. While I was with them (USAA) I had a car that was totaled (flood) and their turn around was awesome.

I've got quite a few friends in Pensacola, FL Naval Air Station - those of whom were there when/after Hurricane Ivan hit. They said USAA's response times and turn arounds were by far the best (Allstate, State Farm, the Gecko company, etc.)

I use ABNB, and its been good to me. Its nice to use an ATM from NFCU or Chartway and not get charged fees, but I'm sure it works the other way too.

I've heard a lot of good things about NFCU, if I had to choose another bank, that'd be who I would go with. I'm not too fond of the online banking for ABNB, but I've never used anyone else's, so I don't know how it ranks.

Wachovia all the way, waived total of almost 300 once of fees for me just because they "appreciated my business". Customer service = excellent, online transactions are awesome as well. Go wachovia!
