If they do total the car it may be worth buying back to pull all the parts off then sell it piece by piece. The buy-back cost is usually a fraction of what they give you.

They gave me $2600 for my fiero, bought it back for $150, and parted it out in 2 days and made $1200 in parts. Insurance companies generally don't look at performance modifications as upping the price. A rebuilt engine, yeah, a paint job, perhaps. But its gonna be hard to justify $20k worth of parts. My GUESS is that you might have to take all your receipts to court with you. Your insurance company should provide you a lawyer.

This sounds like a question for brock(XCELR8). His dad has been an insurance adjuster for like 20 years.

that sucks man yea i got hit 5 months ago and since it was a 89 i only got 1600 for it and that was with recipts but anyway you should get at least 6 or 7 grand i would think then you buy it back for cheap and take your motor out and stick it in somethin else ....you can really make money off this situation but sorry bout what happened
