impresions on the mazdaspeed 3
the mazdaspeed3 is a pretty good car i saw TURBOXS in MD dyno testing one the first week it came out! they also had a prototype of their exhaust system on the car, it sounded really nice
Yes I do and I love it. Definitely a fun car. I have the GT edition minus navi cause that shits expensive.
hmm... well I will just talk about the car for abit and any questions you have after just ask.
I have a dyno thread on the site too which you can do a search for and find. Im not going to do all the work for you.
Currently mine is bone stock with a little over 6,000 miles. I have driven it on two long journeys one to Snowshoe mtn and back and the other to Ohio.
On those trips I averaged 35mpg.. outstanding considering I have a bad habit of doing 70 the whole time on the highway. City I get about 22-24 depending on if I'm flogging it or not.
The car is blue and is serial number 87... I was the first on this side of the water to purchase one and possibly the 757. I got it with .2 miles on it and didn't pay the mark up of 2gs they had on it.
Comparison wise I was down to the WRX Wagon and the Speed3 I was just about to buy a WRX when I got a call saying the first Speed3s had arrived at priority and called casey to find they had one too. So I drove up as fast as I could to check it out.
Ok so the reasons I picked the Speed over a WRX wagon.
-Speed is cheaper with more options for one.
-The speed handles better than the WRX in a road and track test done by multiple reputable car mags. Timed laps were very quick.
- Its faster than a WRX in the quarter mile...by just a little bit.
- Being 6ft and driving both cars I found the speed to be more comfortable the seats were bolstered and hug you better
- 6 speed
- Auto climate control
- Rain sensing wipers
- DSC - you can turn it on and off, works really well and helps control tq steer
- Steering wheel telescopes in and out and up and down
- Bose 6cd in dash system with 7 speakers and the bass in pretty damn good
- Tire pressure monitors
- Side impact Air Bags
- The interior looks better and feels classier than a WRX- seats are half leather but not electric
- rear windows roll all the way down - yes for some reason this is important to me
- limited slip included
- cup holders everywhere although not adjustable
- bright as fuck xenon headlights
The driving experience in the speed3 is awesome - you will not notice boost lag at all if you are in the right gear for your speed - full boost kicks in at just under 2500 rpm with max torque at just 3000 RPM. It feels nimble and quick and if you launch it right doesn't do bad getting out of the hole. Corners and brakes like a beast and the suspension while nice and firm isnt horrible on rough roads with minimal road noise.
Things I don't like - yes after you own a car for a few months you find things they should improve.
-fold down visors don't have the extra plastic piece to pull out to block the sun on the side - but thats most cars anyway
- no pause button on the cd player..just mute and off
- door plastic marks easily...be careful I'm military and wear boots so I have made a few small marks and then cuss at myself
- The hood is heavy as hell and no after market company makes a vented fiberglass or carbon fiber hood yet
- Top mount intercooler - when your driving its fine but for dyno pulls its a bitch
- Reverse is up and to the left of 1st gear - you have to push down to put it in gear. Its annoying to me
- Rims are huge and heavy... Im working on changing that soon but dont know if I will be able to keep the tire pressure system
- no full size spare - I hate driving on a donut if somin happens
So yeah thats all about the car as you can see most of the things I dont like are very common to other cars too and even knowing all of them that I didnt think about before I still would of bought the car.
Any other questions let me know.

Getting pre-approved is a good idea too... also a down payment is great if your credit score is lower than mine. If you don't know yours you can go to myfreecreditreport.gov I think and get a free look at yours and see the "actual" score for like 4 dollars. If your credit score is as good as mine or your getting a co-signer you wont need a down payment at all.
