Nope, refrigerant and atmosphere dont mix, at least in lawmakers eyes. Keep your a/c man. Downpipes aren't hard to modify and all you have to do to lose the drag associated with the a/c is floor it. Hondas have a WOT switch that breaks the current to the compressor clutch when its punched. Or just turn it off for like 30 seconds and romp on it. A freewheeling a/c pulley has almost no resistance. And if you decide to do it anyway, at least take it to a shop and have them recover it. Do your part to help our reputation as car enthusiasts. Oh yeah and to answer the question, removing everything is easier than doing a brake job if you ask me. You dont even have to put anything back on just rip shit out. good luck

if you cant figure out how to take your a/c out, i dont think your gonna be able to install a turbo kit. use your common sense, go outside and fuck with it and figure it out.

Take it to a shop to get evacuated, most will do it for free since they can sell it.

Then start taking stuff off.

Just yank the line off the compressor and leave the scene for about an hour or so (leave the garage door open). Who the hell cares what Al Gore thinks. The rest is elementry: remove the compressor, condensor and all the lines that were associated with it and get the proper size belt to run without the compressor.

134a is not legal to vent either...

http://www.epa.gov/ozone/title6/608/faq.html

Can I vent HFC-134a refrigerant?

It is illegal under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act to knowingly vent substitute refrigerants during any service, maintenance, repair or disposal of an appliance.
The fine for venting can be up to $25,000. Just take the car to a shop to be evacuated.

My misunderstanding then, the way you said r12 is illegal and then went on to say 134a was safe came across as trying to say it was legal, to me anyways.

I still do not agree with venting it at all though.
