The police had decided that it looked like a domestic situation and determined that the shooter had finished what he came to do and had left the scene, campus, and was heading out of the state. It took them 2 hours to even send an email around to inform people of what happened in the dorm, and by that point everyone was in their classes in Norris where the 2nd shooting took place. It was a difficult decision to make regarding whether or not to close the campus, but unfortunately it led to many innocent people losing their lives. Who is to say that the killer would not have waited until tomorrow to kill again or if he would have gone into another dorm if campus was shut down earlier and classes were canceled. Oh, and they did report they had a suspect in custody and they were searching for a possible second shooter out of precaution but that was not until 11 am.

yeah it sucks that this had to happen to you guys- i have two fairly good friends in the engineering program over there. I don't understand how somebody could pay such a low regard to human life, forgive the cliche

 

i got some friends at VT. I'm glad to hear that they are all okay and accounted for along with yourself.
