Please don't take that car to Maaco. Hell, you cand sand it yourself. Just sand it down yourself. Maybe look up some FAQ's on sanding down paint, and getting rid of bumps. Invest about $200, and save about $500-600. Nobody should charge you an arm and a leg for 2 layers of a base, and what, 3 layers of paint, and 2-3 of clear? And plus, if you sand it yourself, atleast you know it's good. Whoever you take it too might not even sand it down - and they'll probably charge you for it.

You can not just sand that car down and paint it. The fenders are clearly fiberglass and need to be primed. The bumper needs to be primed and blocked to get all the different levels of paint flat. The entire car needs to be primed period. idk why people think you can just paint over anything and have it look good Save up some money and get the car painted right the first time.

You can sand down most of it. The fenders appear to be the only aftermarket thing - and are probably the only piece of fiberglass. I see no reason why this guy can't sand down most of the car to what he thinks is level. If he really messes it up - oh well, it's a learning experience. You don't have to pay out of the ass for everything - you can do some stuff yourself.

But then again, I'm not sure. He could tell us better.. but most of that looks stock. I'm not a hardcore Mustang guy, though.

I don't think there is such a thing as a cheap paint job that looks good, unless it's done by you or a friend.
